The reconstruction of Ma’Rijany Hemp Company’s plant has been going on for about two years. In September-October 2024, all construction and commissioning works should be completed. And in November, Ma’Rijany Hemp Company plans to launch a plant in Zhytomyr region for the primary processing of industrial hemp.

The reconstruction is taking place on the basis of the Volodarsko-Volynskyi Flax Mill. But all that is left of it is a plot and premises in a very poor technical condition. After the reconstruction, it will be a completely different plant with new modern equipment.

One of the factors in choosing this location was that the plant is located in a relatively safe area. Another important fact is that flax and hemp were traditionally grown in the Zhytomyr region, so they know these crops and have already made enough attempts to revive production.

The former flax processing plant was a place that once provided jobs for the region’s residents. Therefore, the reopening of the plant will create hundreds of jobs, enabling local people to continue the business of their grandparents. They will be able to live and work in their native region and pay taxes to local budgets, which will have a positive impact on the development of the region.

The raw materials for processing at the plant will be partly grown independently (the company currently leases about 850 hectares) and partly purchased from farmers. In the first year of operation, it is planned to provide about 40% of production with raw materials.

In the future, Ma’Rijany Hemp Company intends to become the largest processor of long hemp fiber in Eastern and Central Europe. The company focuses on the textile industry, which requires fiber with a length of 80-100 cm. As of today, there is no such production in Europe, but we plan to change this.
